Introduction: The employees of the treatment department experience more health anxiety due to exposure to various diseases. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to investigate the predictors of health anxiety. Therefore, thr present study aimed at the relationship between distress tolerance and emotion regulation with health anxiety with the mediating role of spiritual intelligence in treatment department employees.
Method: Research method was a descriptive correlational of structural type equation model, 212 employees of a Tabriz Algadir hospital were selected according to the available method in 2024 and answered to the health anxiety questionnaires of Salkovskis & Warwick (2002), Simons & Gaher distress tolerance (2005), Gratz & Roemer difficulty in emotion regulation (2004), and Abdullahzadeh et al.'s spiritual intelligence (2008). The data were analyzed with Spss and Smart-pls software.
Results: The findings of the study showed that there is a significant relationship between health anxiety and distress tolerance, difficulty in emotional regulation and spiritual intelligence. Also, difficulty in emotion regulation directly and indirectly and with the mediating role of spiritual intelligence is able to predict health anxiety and the proposed model has a desirable fit, but distress tolerance was able to predict health anxiety directly and the mediating role of spiritual intelligence in this regard was not confirmed.
Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, it seems that health anxiety among the employees of the treatment department is affected by cognitive and emotional variables.
