مقدمه و اهداف: اگرچه مقابله با آسیب‌های اجتماعی بخش قابل توجهی از سرمایه های هر کشوری را به خود اختصاص میدهد و توجه به آنها می‌تواند منجر به پیشگیری و همچنین درمان آسیب‌ها شود. پژوهش حاضر به دنبال تعیین اثرات اصلی و تعاملی جنسیت و رفتار نمازخواندن به عنوان یک رفتار سفارش شده در دین اسلام، بر نگرش دانشجویان شمال ایران نسبت به آسیب‌های اجتماعی است.
روشها: برای این هدف از میان دانشجویان دختر و پسر دانشگاه گیلان تعداد 234 نفر (169 نفر با نماز و 171 بی‌نماز) انتخاب و به پرسشنامه نگرش به آسیب‌های اجتماعی آقایی و تیمورتاش (1389) پاسخ دادند. به منظور بررسی اثرات اصلی و تعاملی نمازخوانی و جنسیت بر نمره کل و نیز ابعاد نگرش به آسیب‌های اجتماعی به ترتیب از تحلیل واریانس تک و چندمتغیری در قالب یک طرح فاکتوریل 2×2 استفاده شد.
نتایج: یافته‌ها در سطح زیرمقیاس‌ها نشان داد افراد نمازنخوان در مقایسه با افراد نمازخوان گرایش بیشتری به سرقت، روابط جنسی آزاد، خودکشی و فرار از خانه دارند. درسطح تفاوت‌های جنسیتی، صرف نظر از رفتار نمازخوانی، مشخص شد گروه مردان در مقایسه با گروه زنان گرایش بیشتری به روابط جنسی آزاد، و فرار از خانه از خود نشان می‌دهند. در سطح اثرات تعاملی هم مشخص شد که اثر همزمان عضویت گروهی و جنسیت تنها روی پرخاشگری معنی‌دار است. بدین‌مفهوم که میانگین نمرات گرایش به پرخاشگری در گروه پسرانِ غیرنماز خوان بیشتر است.
نتیجه گیری: کسب این نتایج، تاییدی است بر نقش محافظتی رفتار نمازخوانی برای کاهش گرایش به آسیب‌های اجتماعی (به‌ویژه پرخاشگری در گروه مردان) در دانشجویان شمال ایران.
