Thirty hemodialysis patients in Qom Province, Iran, in 2023 were recruited via convenience sampling and randomly assigned to either the intervention group (S-MBT; n=14) or the control group (n=16). The intervention group participated in an eight-week S-MBT program, consisting of weekly 90-minute sessions. Anxiety and depression levels were assessed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale at baseline and one month post-intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance.

No significant baseline differences were observed between the two groups. Post-intervention, anxiety levels in the intervention group were significantly lower compared to the control group (P=0.001), with a marginally significant reduction in depression scores (P=0.088).

Further research with larger, multicenter randomized controlled trials is warranted to validate these findings and elucidate the underlying mechanisms.
