Background and Objectives: This study aimed to design and psychometrically evaluate a religious lifestyle questionnaire among young people.
Methods: This study was a combined sequential exploratory study with qualitative and quantitative data. The data were first collected qualitatively by literature review and semi-structured interviews. The statistical population for the interview included all seminary professors with at least the third level of education, professors of education groups, and young students aged 19-29 in Yazd Province, Iran, of whom 20 were selected using the Delphi method. The data were analyzed using Cronbach’s α coefficient and confirmatory and exploratory factor analyses in SPSS software, version 24, and AMOS software, version 26.
Results: The results of the qualitative phase showed that the five characteristics of nutrition, physical activity, clothing pattern, recreation and leisure activities, and consumption pattern had the highest frequency and were identified as the main characteristics of a religious lifestyle. The results of the quantitative phase showed that out of the 45-item instrument, 22 item scales had good content validity. Cronbach’s α coefficients of all dimensions of religious lifestyle were >0.7 (total value equal to 0.83), and the total intra-cluster correlation coefficient was 0.89.
Conclusion: Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the youth religious lifestyle measurement tool has confirmed statistical validity and reliability; therefore, it can be used.
