Background and Objectives: This study used the phenomenological method to examine the perspectives and factors affecting the emergence and increase of Islamic spiritual health. While previous studies have mainly examined spiritual health from a general and global perspective, this study explicitly analyzed Islamic categories related to spiritual health, such as remembering God, forgetfulness, and choosing good. We aimed to identify and explain the factors that are effective in strengthening Islamic spiritual health through individuals’ lived experiences.
Methods: This qualitative study used a phenomenological method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 22 experts in psychology and spirituality and analyzed using the Claise phenomenological method.
Results: The Islamic spiritual health increased when remembering God and decreased when forgetting God. Purification of the mind, remembrance, action, and environment also played a fundamental role in its promotion. This study suggests practical solutions to strengthen spiritual health in Islamic societies.
Conclusion: Islamic spiritual health increases under the influence of remembering God and decreases under the influence of forgetfulness. Purifying the mind, remembrance, action, and environment can increase Islamic spiritual health. Increasing individuals’ capacity to choose good is crucial in improving Islamic spiritual health.
